The Challenge
The Broadway district is a vibrant cultural hub shaped by everyday interactions, small businesses, and creative energy. The challenge was to create a mural that felt personal and contemporary while reflecting the lived experience of the neighborhood rather than relying on abstract symbolism alone.
The Solution
Drawing from my own experience growing up in Saskatoon, I designed a flowing narrative that captures a day in the life of someone moving through Broadway. Moments like biking the Meewasin Trail, stopping for coffee, greeting a neighborhood cat, and meeting friends are woven together using bold geometry, playful abstraction, and a high-contrast color palette. The composition encourages movement, inviting viewers to walk alongside the mural and discover new details from different angles.
