Prairie Rhythms – Southwest Mural Fest

Client

Southwest Mural Fest

Location

Shaunavon, Saskatchewan

Completion

2025

Process & Tools

Large outdoor mural featuring bison, prairie wildlife, and grain elevator motifs painted in bold colors.

The Challenge

Southwest Mural Fest needed a site-specific artwork that captured the identity of southern Saskatchewan without relying on clichés. The wall was weathered, highly visible, and sat in a key pedestrian zone, demanding a design that felt rooted in place while bringing new energy to Shaunavon’s downtown.

The Solution

I designed a flowing visual narrative that blends bison, prairie wildlife, grain elevators, red barns, a vintage truck, and musical elements. Organic forms and geometric rhythm anchor the composition, giving the wall movement and depth. Using Molotow Premium and acrylics, the mural transformed the facade into a vibrant landmark that reflects community, culture, and the open landscape.
