The Challenge

Radiography students get limited hands-on time with a real C-arm, and the consequences of small positioning errors are hard to visualize until they see the resulting image. The program needed a way to practice positioning judgment anywhere, without booking lab equipment.

The Digital Solution

I built a full-scale C-arm and patient scene in Blender with animated positioning scenarios — optimal setups alongside common errors — each paired with the actual X-ray a student would get, displayed on the unit's monitor. Working with a medical imaging instructor who supplied the clinical imaging library, the experience runs as WebAR through Zappar Mattercraft: students scan a QR code and walk around the machine on their own phone, no headset or app required.
